Birds in Vents: What To Ask
How to prepare for a bird-in-vent quote, including nesting, blocked dryer vents, bathroom vents, chimney openings, and exclusion guards.
Birds in vents can create noise, odor, airflow, and fire-risk concerns. The provider needs to know which vent is involved and whether the birds are currently active.
Identify the vent
Tell the provider whether the issue is a dryer vent, bathroom fan, kitchen exhaust, gable vent, chimney, soffit, or commercial ledge.
Do not force the system
If a dryer or bathroom vent appears blocked, avoid running it heavily until the nest and airflow are checked.
Ask about prevention
The cleanup may not solve the recurrence. Ask about vent guards, screening, chimney caps, ledge deterrents, and whether the guard is appropriate for that vent type.
